Program Note:

In 2016, a hornist friend of mine asked me to write a musical fragment for him every day for a month. These fragments would help him practice for an audition as well as help me become better acquainted to the horn. I enjoyed this collaborative process so much, I decided to turn the best of what I did into a set of horn etudes.

The horn excels at conveying the distant and somber. Each part of the set has a feeling of post-ness, as if you're a ghost returning to a place everyone left long ago.
